Well Week 5 turned out to be quite an interesting week. Apparenly there’s a schedule mix up, that has affected at least three division BB teams. As it turns out the “new” schedule had us with a bye in week 5, not playing the Wild Cats.
Well since the Wild Cats schedule was messed up too both teams decided to scrimmage on an available court. Spiked Punch was without team captain Eric who is out of town and Natale who perhaps was the only one with a correct schedule? But filling in was Mike and newcomer Bill. Mike got off to a pretty hot start, dominating play at the net.
However, the wind was angry on this night and the serving paid dearly for it. Steady serving Alison was the only consistant server for the Spiked Punch. Bumping and setting seems to be improving by all every week, but for the most part play was very loose as this was just a scrimmage with both teams not wanting to to tip their hands too much before next weeks contest (if the schedule doesn’t magically change again).
So until the schedule is officially corrected our next game is on July 10, at 6:00 PM against the Wild Cats. Hope to see everyone at practice Thursday night around 6:30 PM, have a happy 4th of July.

I’ve called around and received some information on T-shirts. Here are the options:
1) Going with a local printer: It’s going to cost approx. 18 - $25 each for just ONE T-shirt no matter what direction we choose to go. Why? Unless you are going to get an iron on transfer and do it yourself, a professional screen printer must separate the 4 colors within the logo design, each color gets its own plate. Each plate costs approx. $18. So, upfront, before you select a t-shirt color, you’re going to pay $72 for the processing of the logo. Now, that’s only a one time fee. But, since we’re only producing a short run of shirts, it makes the overall price higher for everyone. the minimum cost for a t-shirt is $10.95. so, let’s say we each get two shirts at 10.95 each and split up the processing fee and then apply tax. that’s $18-20 for a color shirt with ONE image on the front. If you want to add an additional image, it will cost more for the processing and that means a pricier T.
2) Online printer - Quality drops a bit since they don’t really screen print and let the image soak into the fabric. Instead, they use a different process that applies a permanent image to the shirt. It’s not as bulky as an iron-on decal, however. I found a site that allows us to upload our logo and apply images to front and back for $23. You can even customize your personal shirt. If we agree to do this, everyone can access the store and add whatever they want to the shirt. You may have a different statement to add, want the logo on a different location, etc. one drawback…the t-shirt will be white if you want a double sided image. If you would prefer a color T-shirt, the image can only appear on one side.
Here’s what I came up with for examples:

OR

Personally, I like the idea of having individual team members order their own shirts. This way, nobody is forced into buying one if they don’t want to. Plus, you control the shirt design. I am willing to help walk you through the process and design your shirt. I recommend using Cafepress.com.
Just for comparison purposes, the front/back on white is on a ringer T and will cost $23 total. The color Ts, front image only will cost $23.99.
Send me an e-mail and let me know what option you prefer. I can send you the web site links and necessary files you will need for the logo.

A photo gallery has been added to spikedpunchvolleyball.com. Hopefully we’ll get some more cool photos up there as the season progresses. It has a really cool admin section where we can have accounts and login and upload photos and it takes care of all the resizing, putting them in galleries, etc. So it’s pretty cool.
Just let me know if you want access to it, it just takes a second to set you up. Also let me know if something seems broken with it. I haven’t tested it in any Windows browsers yet and might have to make some further adjustments.

The Spiked Punch Volleyball logo is finished. It’s quite different than what you’ve seen and is truly original. Thanks for all the input from the originals and during the development stage.
We’re going to get t-shirts. I’m going to get some pricing from a few vendors and will let you know the price per shirt. I would like to choose either blue or red as the shirt color. An alternative would be gray. We shouldn’t get white because of the filth factor.

Just got done a super awesome practice in Mays Landing near where Eric lives. I dedicated my performance to my inspiration, Wen. It was four of us so first we just did some volleying in a circle, I think the record was 15 or 16 in a row. Not too shabby. I did hit 2 into the pool, so had to climb the fence twice. That was pretty cool.
Then it rained really hard and we headed to the rain shelter. We then played some exciting 2 on 2. Despite looking directly into the sun all game, Eric and I defeated Geoff and Allison in a most intense overtime game. I have never felt such pressure.
I peed outside. And we did some more practicing. I used to have a lump in my finger from when I broke/sprained it about 4 years ago. But I seem to of reinjured it while practicing and now the lump is gone! Hopefully it won’t come back again. Though I must confess it does hurt like hell. Fear not, it isn’t my mousing hand.

Hey Gang,
I’ve create a few logos to consider for our team. Please take a look and let me know which one you like best.
